This place is…weird and not that exciting. Honestly, I was kind of bored. Kind of reminds me of a kids school project in the way the information was presented. It’s not a large space, so you’ll be in and out pretty quick. Also, a bit crowded. But saw some funky things.
The Museum of the Weird is exactly what it promises—weird, wonderful, and totally worth it. It’s this great little spot just off Sixth Street (you might almost miss it if you’re not looking—kind of like it’s hiding in plain sight, which honestly just adds to the mystery). The place is packed with all kinds of oddball charm—classic sideshow stuff, vintage creepiness, and things that make you say, “Wait… what am I looking at?” It’s affordable, low-key, and super fun. Like, where else can you walk past a two-headed animal, a frozen caveman, and then get a live mini-show at the end? It’s got big “Austin stays weird” energy, and I loved every second. Cheap, weird, and unforgettable. Highly recommend checking it out if you’re in town and want something different. You won’t leave smarter, but you will leave smiling.
Super fun! We went right when it opened so it wasn't busy at all. Bunch of cool funky stuff and neat little gift shop. Had a great visit and enjoyed the spooky / haunted atmosphere. The wax museum was educational and well kept. All exhibits were AC or cooled by a fan. Sadly due to the building being an older building, it is not wheelchair accessible, to my knowlede(i didnt inquire further but didnt see obvious signs so maybe call ahead to verify) the wax museum is up stairs that was accessible via a ramp but I don't know if there was an elevator available. Lovely gift shop, a good hour or two worth of exhibits to peruse. Very glad I visited!
Great little museum, it’s not massive so don’t expect to walk forever but do expect to be intrigued. The gift shop is also very nice & the staff that was working the day I was there had a great personality. Would definitely come back!
Great place to take visitors and give them a taste the weirdness Austin is famous for. It was fun, interesting, and downright silly at times, which was perfect for the day we planned. It's next to a few cool bars and smack in the middle of all the 6th Street craziness. We went on a Sunday afternoon with our out of town guests. The place was chock full of fascinating facts, and literally everywhere you look, there is something to catch your eye. Provided some great laughs and photos.

This place is helping to keep Austin weird for sure. First and foremost, the employees were terrific! The attractions were fun too, but you need to take it all lightly. I think kids will get a kick out of this place, but as a sober adult, not so much. Highly recommend if you want to take a break from the craziness of the surrounding bars!
Super fun experience! My boyfriend and I enjoyed all of the exhibits and compared it to a real life Mystery Shack! The rooms/exhibits are really small, (downtown austin what can you do) so I got a bit claustrophobic, but the outdoor area helped. It wasn’t super crowded, but because of the small space you might bump into people depending on how busy it is. The front desk people are super nice and helpful! We parked in a nearby parking spot and walked over since there is no parking immediately adjacent to the museum. The wax museum was super fun, and the gorilla made for a great picture op. Would recommend!
FUN! i love creepy stuff and oddities so when we were looking for stuff to do today in Austin, this was a no-brainer. Tons of creepy artifacts & stories, wax sculptures of classic movie monsters, and (what they say is) a prehistoric man encased in ice. (it was on an episode of Unsolved Mysteries.) The entire place seems like a love letter to Tod Browning. We really enjoyed it.

A fun place at an affordable price. Silly PT Barnum type stuff. Made me miss my mother in law who loved this type of kitsch.
