Portland’s newest Spanish restaurant.
Great little Tapas place! Right up the with Toro Bravo and Le Chon. U can't go wrong with anything on the menu. It's a small place so best to make reservations.
This place has great Spanish tapas. The ambiance is also great. I would have given it a 5 stars if they had more meatless options.
This new place has a great atmosphere, the food is unique and very tasty, well seasoned and honestly even though the portions are not large or is filling. This was a great place for a date night
Great food. Fantastic atmosphere. Chef Javier is Amazing. Just an all around great place.
Best scallops I've ever had. The rest of the food was unique and amazing as well. Very attentive, pleasant and informative servers. Definitely a new favorite Portland restaurant. Go here!
Best tapas I've had in the city. Great environment and great story behind the scenes.
My wife and I ate at Urdaneta on the evening of their soft opening, but you couldn't tell that from the service or food quality. The plates were wonderfully presented and delicious. Service was on top of all of our needs and very knowledgeable about the menu items. I highly recommend you check out Urdaneta for a night of food that you won't forget.
GO. HERE. NOW. I am a Spanish teacher and have lived and traveled in various parts of northern, northeastern, and eastern Spain. Chef Javier's Urdaneta is the real deal. He is Basque and Spanish and has managed to find that perfect balance between serving pinxtos (tapas) that you would find at a bar in San Sebastián and not being too "out there" for many Americans' palettes. He studied with Albert Adrià in Barclelona, and it certainly shows. Every dish that came out kept getting better! We especially loved the kalimotxo-flavored lamb skewered on a cinnamon stick and the squid stuffed with blood sausage. Best of all, the space is unpretentious and welcoming. There was a mom with two grade-school aged girls at the table next to us, and they seemed happy (children and tapas do not always mix, but they do at Urdaneta!) Chef Javier came out to our table a few times to chat; I hope he continues to connect with his patrons even as Urdaneta (inevitably) gets busier as more people find out about it. Cinco estrellas, Chef Javier; muy bien hecho :)
