I went on so many bat tours with Capital Cruises because every time someone came to visit me in Austin, I'd book it right away. It was the perfect way to show people a view of the city and have some fun in the meantime! Every bat tour is different and unique. And the views are gorgeous!
It was a fantastic experience and the only reason I didn’t give it the full 5 stars was because the microphone audio quality that the tour guide used was very muffled and I struggled to hear most of what the guy was saying. If you fixed the audio quality that would be awesome! Tour length was great. Perhaps tell people how long the trip will be at the start? And also have some signage at the front of the hotel area to help people that arrive at the hotel as we had to ask the bell staff where to go. Those guys were very friendly so that was good!
What a fun way to see all the bats fly out! Sunset sky and bats make excellent photos. Our guide was very informative and patiently answered questions. After watching the bats we had a nice cruise with a little Austin history to wrap up the hour cruise. Would definitely recommend this company!
I DID A PRIVATE BOAT RIDE FOR MY FAMILY AND ZACH WAS AWESOME. WE WERE ABLE TO WATCH THE BATS COME OUT AT SUNSET. IT WAS VERY PEACEFUL AND RELAXING. WILL DEFINITELY BE GOING BACK AGAIN.
We thoroughly enjoyed the bat tour. Our guide had a fun sense of humor and shared the history of the bats. With a bit of luck and good timing by our guide we were able to see several waves of the bats leave. It was a special experience. Afterwards the guide took us west and shared the history behind some of the skyline's high rises. I would do this tour again.
I went on the sunset bat tour. This was my first time and I would definitely do it again. There were soooo many bats! Much more than I imagined it would be. Captain Chase was amazing and very informative. He told us a lot of cool facts (and some strange ones!) about the bats and the surrounding Austin area.
Alex was an amazing captain and tour guide! We went out today to see all the bats and had an absolutely wonderful time. Alex was very knowledgeable about the city and made the tour very enjoyable. I’d recommend this tour and Alex to anyone wanting to go out on the water to see the bats!
I was very happy with the cost of the swan boats that we rented. The workers were friendly. We were provided with an umbrella because it was a hot day. We were definitely told it was a leg workout but my husband handled pedaling for us just fine. We didn't go too far but overall we're really happy with this experience. I definitely recommend.
I did the bat tour twice and each experience was different, which isn’t a bad thing! The tour guides are very knowledgeable and have their own unique perspective of the area. I was drawn to the tour for the bats but I enjoyed the easygoing sunset ride along Austin’s skyline even more! I recommend booking ahead of time online to ensure you can get a spot.

Great experience! The music was a great way to set the chill vibe for the ride. It played quietly under the captain’s information about Lake Lady Bird, Austin and conservation efforts. You could tell he had a lot of knowledge and love for the City of Austin! His relaxed delivery and passion kept me interested the entire time. We learned about the bats even though we weren’t able to see a lot of them. That wasn’t from a lack of effort though. Our captain even dropped off some of our boat mates and took us back out to see if they would make an appearance. No luck in the end, but still a lovely way to take in Austin on the lake!
